The first semester for first-time freshmen is pivotal to academic success and graduation. After analyzing past data regarding the relationship between the freshmen GPA and retention rates, EKU is implementing a new check on freshmen performance.
The University General Education Committee (UGEC) is conducting several campus-wide forums in early Fall to obtain feedback on proposed changes to the EKU General Education Program. Over the summer, workgroups compiled survey response data and developed more specific proposals in response to faculty and staff input.

Last spring, at the request of the Faculty Senate, a University Advising Committee was formed, with Dr. Norm Spain serving as Chair. The Committee is using the Appreciative Inquiry (AI) process to take a comprehensive look at advising from admission to graduation.
